Five fun summer outdoor activities for the holidays!
Hooray, summer vacation has begun! Maybe you've already done some fun things, but six weeks can sometimes feel quite long and a bit boring. We definitely don't want that! That's why we've come up with five super fun outdoor activities for you. Enjoy!
1. Backyard Camping
Set up a mini-campsite in your backyard to feel like you're on a real vacation! Pitch a tent together, have a cozy BBQ, and end the evening with a fire for roasting marshmallows. Did you know sleeping outdoors is very healthy? Make it extra fun and cozy with a homemade welcome sign, weather forecast, and entertainment program. It'll feel just like a real campsite! You could even invite some classmates for a sleepover.
2. Hunt for Critters in the Neighborhood
Crawl through bushes or climb a tree. What critters do you come across? Birds, insects, and maybe even a big spider. Use a camera or phone to snap photos of everything you find. Who knows, maybe you'll be the next Freek Vonk!
3. Olympic Water Games
Is it super hot? Then you're probably looking for something to cool down. This summer is all about the Olympics, but you can organize your own water games. Games like bottle soccer, a slip-and-slide, water balloon fight, and sponge relay will make for a sporty and refreshing day!
4. Delicious Picnic
Playing outside makes you hungry. Find the prettiest spot nearby for a cozy picnic. Pack a basket with sandwiches, fruit skewers, veggie snacks, homemade wraps, and delicious drinks to fill up your belly. Maybe bring a soccer ball along to play with in between bites.
5. Sidewalk Chalk Circuit
Take out the box of sidewalk chalk and create your own course for scooters, bikes, or rollerblades with all your neighborhood friends. Add obstacles like a roundabout or intersection to improve your balance and speed. If it doesn't rain, you can enjoy your circuit for days on end.
